Review & Giveaway ~ Changing Diapers: The Hip Mom's Guide to Modern Cloth Diapering

A couple weeks ago I was given the opportunity to check out Changing Diapers: The Hip Mom’s Guide to Modern Cloth Diapering. I was pretty excited, I’ve been wanting to read it for months!

I was impressed. It was a great summary of how far Cloth Diapers have come.

While not as in depth in some parts as I’d have liked, it is an awesome overview for a newbie or for anyone who’d still trying to figure it all out. Mom, Dad, Grandparents, Friends. If you need help explaining cloth diapers, this is definitely a go-to resource.

The diagrams of different types of diapers are very detailed and very helpful. The blog and website resources that are listed are great recommendations and it's so nice to have everything all in one place!

I would have liked to see some more info on some of the mainstream brands, but then it would be a review book instead of a how-to and summary, and with all the new manufacturers popping up and the mainstreams always popping something new out, a review book, well, would be outdated the month it came out!

Overall, I thought that it was very well done and it’s definitely on my Cloth Diapering Mom’s Must Have list. I’m sure that I’ll be buying several as shower gifts here in the next few months!

Oh, but be warned: A couple time through seeing all those adorable pictures of fluffy bottoms and you’ll have baby fever, just for the diapers!!

Now some other great news! Kelly Wels and Changing Diapers have given me a Fuzzibunz OS and a "I’m a Hip Mom and Love Cloth Diapers"Eco-Friendly Tattoo to give away to a lucky reader! If you aren’t cloth diapering yet, this would be a great place to start your stash! And if you already love cloth diapers, then you know you can't resist! Enter via the form below!

  1. Yay your first giveeaway! Count me in. My favorite CD tip is that everyone should own at least half a dozen flats because they are inexpensive and so versatile. Also, I like to keep one in the car along with an inexpensive cover so I will never be caught unprepared.

  2. We're expecting baby #1 in February and have already started making up our stash, however I'm so worried about prepping them! So many different brands and prep instructions! CD'ing seems like a breeze once you get started!

  6. I have only just started using cloth more, especially at night. I need tips on getting out stains because all my inserts and prefolds have them now. I am a little dismayed at that.

  7. How awesome! One of my cloth diaper tips is register for 2 dozen baby washcloths on your baby registry--they are the perfect size for cloth wipes, and the terry cloth is a little extra "scrubby" for the bottom when you need it!

  8. I haven't started cloth diapering yet but the best tip I've been told is to use coconut oil on diaper rashes.

  9. I don't cloth diaper yet, but we are adopting, so I am looking into it now to be prepared. My biggest fear is learning which diaper to use when. Once I have it down, my biggest fear is that I will want to buy every different one in every different style!

  12. It can get overwhelming! I think the biggest thing to remember is not to prep natural fibers and microfiber together...other than that, it really comes down to opinion :)

  13. It's got a special chapter just for dads and also covers all the cost savings, that tends to be the draw for a lot of the dads I know. Depending on the number of kids you CD it can save $1000+

  14. Sunlight!! Hang them or lay them out in the sun right out of the washer. One of the best stain removers!

  15. yes! Coconut oil is great and usually won't cause problems with the diaper's absorbency like a zinc product will.

  16. Just FYI about the time you figure out the perfect diaper for when, the baby will change diet or bladder size and you'll have to figure it out all over again, but that's half the fun and half the rationalization for buying more cute dipes!
