Stream of Consciousness Sunday ~ Waiting on G+

#SOCsunday

Finding it very hard to concentrate on anything right now. I know I was just sent an invite to Google + and I can't wait to join and start trying it out! Either the email is hung up though, or it didn't go through...it was sent 20 minutes ago. It's so hard to be patient in a microwave world! Even five minutes is too long! I get frustrated sometimes at how slow the microwave is too. The 5-7 minutes it takes seems like an eon, even though I know that the same thing would take 30 - 45 minutes in the oven.
Using that in my favor though I'm incorporating it into breaking my Coke addiction, I've stopped keeping my cokes in the fridge and and when I want one, I pop it in the freezer and set the oven timer for 30min. Now I only get a coke if I'm willing to wait for it! Gone from several a day to just one or two now!

  1. I think I read somewhere that Google didn't realize how G+ would take off and invites are being held up, etc.

It is hard to kick the Coke habit. I use to always have a Coke with dinner and before we planned to have kids I slowly gave it up. It doesn't sound bad, right? 1 Coke with dinner...but I also had some with lunch or with a snack. Let me tell you this...it is very easy to get addicted again. I was drinking only water and juices and carbonated water and then one day had a Coke and suddenly I was telling myself it was okay to have more than 1! Ugh!! Good luck.

  2. I have a Dew Habit that needs kicking, but today is not the day! Good luck with yours!

I have no clue what G+ is, but I'd love to find out!

  3. I have to say - I love that phrase "microwave world" and, undoubtedly will be plagiarizing heavily in the coming days.

Oh, I'm seriously jealous of your G+ invite - even though I'm not sure why.

    Happy 4th - be safe.

  4. G+ is short for Google +, it's the new social networking site that they're rolling out, hoping that it's as cool as they make it sound!

  5. That would explain it :)

I've cut back before, but when my son stopped sleeping through the night I started using it as a crutch again and so I was back to square 1. I usually have mine first thing in the morning, breakfast of champions, right?!

  6. Haha, is it plagiarism if I don't have a problem with it?

I think I might be able to send invites once I actually join (hence the overabundance of invites!) I'll let you know if that's true!

  7. Cool - on both counts. Although, I have to ask - what is the point of G+? Beyond making all of us who haven't been invited crazy over that fact. lol

  8. It is supposed to integrate all different types of social media. The feature that I'm most interested is Circles, that part will allow you to assign people to different circles like "Local friends" "Business contacts" "Family" "Bloggers" I'll be able to contact different groups of people from one account and control what each of those groups can see about me.

It will eventually open up to everyone, they're just trying to work the kinks out without overloading the servers/system right now so the invites are to let people trickle in instead of flood.

  10. I so need to cut down on my soda habit too. I have done it before but it isn't the easiest thing. I don't drink alcohol but a strong diet pepsi does the same thing for me. lol

  11. I am coveting a Google + invite! I hope it is all it is hyped to be. I coveted a Google wave invite way back when, and I finally got it and thought it was just ...meh. But I suspect this will be better. As if we don't all have enough social media juggling already ;)

  12. I think about how impatient I am these days. TV on demand. Movies on DVD. Microwaving for 2 minutes. Sometimes I long for the simpler times when cartoons were only on Saturday mornings and after school and you spent the rest of your time playing.

  13. Just got the invite thing figured out, if you'd still like one let me know!

  14. Have you gotten an invite yet? I just figured out how to send them :)

  15. No I haven't! I am still on the sidelines :(

  16. Also, WEIRD...my profile is posting a pic that isn't me. I hope the email is the right one. Thereadqueen@gmail.com

  17. I invited you and DM'd on Twitter how to get to the sign up.

I'm not sure what's up with the pic, it's actually mine , but it's going up for random people/comments...

  18. That would be great! Do you need anything from me?

  19. That sounds really interesting, especially Circles. It's always a problem to separate what different people see. Certainly don't want the same information available to business contacts that my family can see.

  20. I'll need a gmail address, they've closed the main invites again, but I can try the loophole and see if it still works if you already have a reg google account or can make one

  21. jmarkafghans@gmail.com is my Google account.

  22. Invite sent and I sent an email telling you how to navigate the loophole, I also deleted your comment with your email so a webcrawler couldn't pick it up for spam fodder (dodn't want you to think it disappeared or I was being rude for deleting or anything :) )

  23. Well that was certainly easy! Already in, set up, and playing with the goodies. Thank you so much. I think this is going to be great fun.
