Manic Mommy Mondays ~ My Hubby Is Bald!

So a couple bits of news over the past week.

The biggest and most obvious to us is that Jake participated in shaving his head for the St. Baldricks Foundation in order to raise awareness of childhood cancer and funds for research. The most shocking thing about it for me was finding out that only 4% of all funds raised for cancer research goes towards researching cancer in children. That just seems so off balance since these little kids have their whole lives ahead of them and while much of the other research goes towards others who are valuable but who have already spent an average of 60 years on this earth. It just stops and makes you really think.

Standing at the event waiting for the shaving to begin I could not doing much other than just hold my boys and thank God that they are both healthy as I listened to the stories.

Even supporting such a great cause and being so proud of Jake for participating, I have to say, I am not a fan of my hubby's shaved head. Maybe over the next few days I'll get used to it. But for now, rolling over at night and seeing his silhouette really startles me.

Another big thing is that Jaron is potty training! I wrote this post last week updating how we were doing with all of that.  And he has surprised me by asking to go in the mornings when he wakes up. throughout the day I see him run to the bathroom saying "potty" to find that he had just gone. So now we're going to try a timer and see if I can help him get to the potty before he actually goes. It'll be an interesting week!

  2.  That 4 % is shocking!  I'm guessing not a lot of people know that when they decide to participate!

  3. 100% of the funds raised by St Baldricks goes to children's research. The 4% is including all cancer foundations, etc. nationwide, 96% goes to adult cancer research through other organizations.

Sorry, I was in a stream of consciousness writing mode and that part wasn't very clear!
