Merry Christmas!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!

I hope most of ya'll were able to slow down from chasing little ones around and enjoy the holiday.

I hit the jackpot this year when my sister-in-law came for Christmas. She wanted to spend time with the boys and they wanted to show off and play with her, so I actually got to clean and sit and read or do nothing for a bit or take a shower by myself. It was wonderful!

I have also discovered how to get the boys to play with a variety of toys. I decide to see how something new works, never fails, one or both of them will be over in less than 30 seconds to take it away for me. Go figure.

This is the first year that Aedyn really got the idea of presents and because he had an example Jaron was pretty into it all too. We've tried and will continue trying to emphasize what they are giving more that what they get and I'm looking forward to next year when Aedyn might be able to start really making some of the gifts he gives.

As much as I love all the holidays at the end of the year I'm very much looking forward to settling in and finding a "normal" for the next few months...

Stream of Consciousness Sundays ~ Christmas Lists

#SOCsunday

It's that time of year again. Jaron's birthday is in 2 weeks. Christmas in 2 months, Aedyn's birthday a month after that.

What do they need? What do they want? What do Jake and I want (for them)?

I've got a list that's full of things I've seen over the last several months that I think they'd like. Well, 2 lists I guess. I started writing one and then just started snapping pics with my phone of things I saw, it was quicker...

They don't need everything on there and we don't have the $$ to buy everything on there. Jaron is still a baby and so it's all our choice. Aedyn, at almost 3, has his own opinion this year. I want to get him things like Candyland and Chutes and Ladders, craft kits, things that we can do together, and a fish tank.

He wants Hot Wheels and Transformers and Star Wars stuff. ( I am actually proud of the Star Wars stuff...) But I'm trying to balance the line between choosing gifts that he wants and the gifts that I want. Like I said he doesn't need everything and we need to save some things for his brother to get new...

No one warned me about this part of parenting! Why does it have to be so difficult not to spoil a child???
